Doublebase Gel

liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate

Product overview

Doublebase Gel is formulated to offer the emollient advantages of an ointment with the cosmetic acceptability of a cream.

Double action Doublebase Gel has both emollient and humectant properties:

  • Its high oil content is occlusive and provides an efficient emollient action, reducing evaporation of water through the stratum corneum.
  • The humectant glycerol increases the water content of skin to reduce roughness and irritation caused by dryness.

Doublebase Gel is available in a 1kg pump dispenser in addition to the 500g pump dispenser and 100g tube. The 1kg pack dispenses up to 4g per actuation of the pump.

Doublebase Gel Evidence

In a blinded study, children, who were empowered to select their own emollient, were most likely to select Doublebase Gel from a selection of 7 different emollients. (Aslam A. Empowering children to select their own emollients. Dermatological Nursing 2009;8(4):1–5.)

In a corneometry study, Doublebase Gel has been shown to outperform two well known proprietary creams. View the study, An effective, cosmetically acceptable, novel hydro-gel emollient for the management of dry skin conditions.

Similarly, in another corneometry study, Doublebase Gel was shown to have a significant and cumulative beneficial effect on skin hydration whereas Aqueous Cream did not improve skin hydration levels even after 7 days of continuous use. View the data.
